After a two year break, the NC Dept of Transportation is once again researching which route the final sections of I540 should take. In Holly Springs the original "orange" route consists of mostly vacnt land in anticipation of the highway beign built. However, the orange route is not set in stone and the alternatives have neighborhoods and towns on high alert. The proposed "purple" route for example would end up costing several homowners in Sunset Oaks thier homes. Meetings have been set up on various dates so that NCDOT can answer questions.
