Holly Springs NC - More Good News

Holly Springs NC has once again finds itself in the National headlines for all the right reasons. This time Holly Springs NC has been rated as the best place to raise kids in North Carolina by Bloomberg Businessweek:

http://images.businessweek.com/slideshows/2012-12-17/the-best-places-to-raise-kids-2013#slide34 .

Holly Springs has done a great job at preserving its small town feel while continuing to offer big city amenities. While Main Street in Holly Springs hosts holiday parades, farmers markets, and community center events, highway 55 continues to see more big name retailers and restaurants move into town. Target, Olive Garden, and a movie theater are just a few of the new businesses coming soon. All this and now the new 540 exit on 55 is open to traffic making it easier for anyone living in Holly Springs to make their way to anywhere in the Triangle.

Tax Free Weekend

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is tax free weekend. No.....not on Raleigh Real Estate purchases, but on many items like clothing and school supplies including some electronics. So if you’re not too busy searching for your next Raleigh home this weekend make sure you take advantage of the tax savings. Even better take advantage of the tax savings by shopping at Belk (Southpoint location only). They will be donating 2% of net sales this weekend to Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. This is your chance to help Belk give back to our community and ultimately help other deserving families "Grow Local". Visit the Streets at Southpoint website for more information.

Apex Habitat Homes

The Town of Apex is getting ready for several new Habitat for Humanity homes. It's been 22 years since Habitat for Humanity has built in Apex. According to a blog on the Wake Habitat for Humanity website http://blog.habitatwake.org/?p=254 , 16 families will be moving in to these new homes. It sounds to me like there will be plenty of opportunities for all of us here in the Triangle to volunteer our time to assist Habitat for Humanity help these 16 families "Grow Local". If you are interested in helping out with this or any other Habitat for Humanity project, visit their website:  http://www.habitatwake

Habitat Build at Southpoint Mall

Check out this time lapsed video of a Habitat for Humanity home being built at The Streets at Southpoint in Durham. The home will be framed at the mall and be on display until the beginning of August at which time it will be moved to it's final Durham location where a family will move in.

Want to help make a difference - The Streets at Southpoint will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity everytime someone goes to the Streets at Southpoint facebook page and "likes" the page between now and the time the home is moved.

Thank you Belk, ABC11, The Streets at Southpoint, and Habitat for helping a well deserved family Grow Local!

Welcome to the team

It is extremely exciting to have so many familiar faces on the Grow Local Team. I would like to personally welcome Roseamary Molinari, Gary Kendig, Harvey Wails, Phyllis Callahan, Brenda Porter, Temple Porter and Rose Turco to the team. All of these agents have great energy, an amazing work ethic and incredible local real estate knowledge. Starting a new company can be fun and exciting, but it involves hard work, dedication, determination, and also some faith. I would like to thank each of these agents for signing up for the hard work to come, for being dedicated to their clients and their profession, for their determination to grow their local business, and especially, I would like to thank them for having faith in me and in themselves. Buckle up everyone 'cause....Here we Grow!

Good news in housing

If you are still wondering if the housing industry is improving, take a look at the quote below from an Associated Press article posted earlier today(6/19/2012). Builders are back at it and we have seen plenty of folks here in the Triangle buying new homes. Hopefully the media continues to run positive stories about what is happening in the housing market across the nation and here in the Triangle. I think we all are used to reading negative articles about the economy and the housing industry and I welcome the oppurtunity to get used to reading positive stories.

The article is "Jump in Housing Starts sends stocks higher". Here is the best news within the article: "American builders broke new ground on more single-family homes in May and requested more permits to build homes and apartments than they have in the past three and a half years." here is the link to the entire article http://www.wral.com/business/story/11223402/'

Raleigh Recognized for Job Growth

Raleigh was one of eight cities named in a Kiplinger report titled "8 cities with suprising job growth". The Raleigh-Durham area continues to be extremely attractive to new businesses and many exisitng companies as well as our local universities conitnue to create new jobs. Check out the article for additional information and statistics (the link is below). I think all of us who follow the local business and residential sectors are happy to see Raleigh recognized in the article, but it is not suprising to us at all!

Open for business

It's Official - It's been a lot of hard work, but Grow Local realty is officially open for business!

We are extremely excited to begin helping our friends and neighbors...and our future friends and neighbors with thier real estate needs. We are committed to providing incredible customer service that will be second to none. I am absolutely thrilled about the amazing team of agents who have decided to join me in this great adventure to Grow Local!

So what about the name....Why Grow Local? Many Real Estate Companies include local cities or towns in their names, or use their own personal name as the business name or even incorporate a big franchise name. I wanted to use a name that echoed the culture we are trying to create internally within our organization and at the same time reflect what we are assisting our buyers do by helping them find their next home and finally while some of our seller clients may be moving out of the area, our goal is to find a great buyer who is looking to Grow Local.

I am sure a lot of you quickly thought to yourself (or said out loud) Grow Local?....you mean like "locally grown"....like produce.....Corn maybe!. I would say that while we don't have a stand at the local farmers market (the farmers market is awesome by the way), we are 100% fine with anyone who would equate our name with such a place. Like the local farmer, selling local produce, we are a local firm with local agents, selling local properties. Sure you could go to the big named grocery store to buy your produce, but there is something to be said about supporting that local farmer who is simply looking to Grow Local!
